Privacy Policy — Windward Vantage: Helm for Gmail

This Chrome extension ("Helm for Gmail") is a private tool published by Windward Vantage for use with the Windward Vantage Helm CRM. It is distributed unlisted and intended for authorized Windward Vantage users.

What the extension accesses

When you have Gmail open (https://mail.google.com), the extension reads, from the currently open conversation only:

  • The email addresses of the correspondents on the thread.
  • Gmail message IDs and thread IDs and the message subject.

It uses these to look up and associate the matching records in your Helm CRM and, when you explicitly click to track a thread, to log those messages to your CRM.

What it sends, and where

The extension communicates only with your configured Helm instance (https://vantagehelm.com by default). Requests are made by the extension's background service worker and authenticated with an add-on token that you enter yourself in the extension's options. No data is sent to any other server.

  • No advertising, analytics, tracking pixels, or third-party services.
  • Email open-tracking is intentionally not implemented and never will be.
  • Your data is not sold and not shared with anyone other than your own

What it stores

The extension stores two values in Chrome's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local) on your device: your Helm URL and your add-on token. Nothing else is persisted by the extension. Clearing the extension's storage or removing the extension deletes them.

Permissions, and why

  • storage — to save your Helm URL and add-on token locally.
  • Host access to mail.google.com — to render the CRM panel and tracking

controls inside Gmail and read the open thread's participants.

  • Host access to vantagehelm.com — so the service worker can call your Helm

CRM API on your behalf.

The extension executes no remote code; all logic ships inside the package.

Data retention and control

Any CRM records created or logged are stored in your Helm CRM and governed by your CRM's own data policies, not by this extension. You control what is logged — every write asks for confirmation first.
